As a Naturopathic Doctor, a very large part of my time with my clients is spent counselling.
It is about helping people. This type of ministry is where my heart lies and I strive to bring in God’s grace as I talk to people. There is always a prayer for help and guidance before I greet my clients.
I cannot even begin to list the books, readings and presentations I have read and listened to.
I host a bi-weekly meditation group.
Writing & performing wedding ceremonies and healing circles are to me services of worship. I have also written and delivered one funeral eulogy.
I lead a meditation group where the focus is on the Chakras. I guide members through an informative talk then a meditation followed by a discussion and healing circle. We finish the evening in such a peaceful and relaxed state.
Pastoral Care Activities
My whole practice is Pastoral care on a deep abiding level. I also provide home visits to my senior clients.
My summer activities include biking, hiking, swimming, gardening. Winter activities include skiing, downhill and cross country, snowshoeing, yoga. I also enjoy cooking warm comforting meals after a day on the slopes
Giving Back to my Community
At present, I am quite busy with weddings, our AirBnB in Fernie and my practice but I still find time to lead a bi-weekly meditation group and help out with the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation.
There was a time when I was very busy volunteering. For 9 years, I was a volunteer Snow Host at Sunshine village Ski Resort leading ski tours of the resort. It was fun and interesting to meet people from around the world and be an ambassador for Sunshine Village and Banff.
I also enjoyed the Arts community and volunteered for the local theatre group helping with front of house duties and the fundraisers for the Arts Station.
During the last year along with my practice I found time to conduct about 15 weddings. Each one was different but with each one I took the time to sent an spiritual intention to be a heart centred, grounded presence for the couple and their guests. It is such a joy to look them in the eyes and connect them to the moment and each other during the ceremony. I am so grateful to be able to do this work.
For decades I have said to myself, dress me up and give me a microphone and I am a happy girl. I could not figure out what that was about until I did my first wedding. It just felt so right.
