A few words about Carol

Carol brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate heart to her role as a wedding officiant. With thirty-six years in education and a deep commitment to pastoral care, Carol has touched the lives of many through her dedication, professionalism, and love for others.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Carol finds joy and fulfillment in her hobbies, from nurturing her garden to enjoying the camaraderie of golfing. These activities not only bring her closer to nature but also provide moments of reflection and connection with others. Carol’s spiritual journey is woven into the fabric of her life, guiding her actions and enriching her relationships. Whether conducing ceremonies for couples and families or officiating at her own niece’s wedding, Carol approaches each moment with reverence and humility, recognizing the power of ritual and the importance of being present for others in their times of joy and sorrow. With her kind, empathetic, and competent nature, Carol is poised to create meaningful and memorable experiences for couples as they embark on the next chapter of their lives together.

She loves to welcome people to her home, and enjoys spending time with friends and family. Walking with her dog in nature every day is time well spent.

Carol was taught a sense of connection to her community from a young age. Although she now calls Chilliwack her home, she returns to Pender Island to support the Pender Island Cemetery society and The Pender Island Fall fair.

She has also been a long-time canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Poppy Fund drive. Her profound respect for veterans’ issues reflects her values of empathy and support.

Personal Growth

Carol has read countless books, but one that has truly impacted her is “A Grief Observed” by C.S. Lewis. This book helped her to process her own grief, after losing several close family members in a short time. It provided with her several realizations but most importantly made me realize that grief is not linear and is not something that we simply get through; it is more circular and will recur from time to time. It gave her faith that she would be able to deal with grief, and that she would be forever marked by my loved ones’ passing.

Closing Words

“I want the couple getting married to feel love and support on their very special day and want to be able to transmit that love to them.

I am so looking forward to getting together with people and being part of weddings which are the most hopeful and optimistic and joyful events imaginable.”
