Ordained October 10, 2019

Rev Joel joined Clergy Support Memorial and was appointed a Designated Minister on February 28th, 2017. Since that time, Joel has demonstrated that he is a consummate professional, team player and a quick learner. He was unanimously raised to Ordained Ministry on October 10th, 2019.

Pastoral Care

Along with regular hospital vistation a the Emergency Department in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside, Joel is active in several facets within the community with a strong focus on working with new-comers to Canada, primarily students, to mentor them in areas of career and life management which center around community and Canadian cultural familiarization, workplace readiness and career preparedness. In doing so, he has also participated in various mentorship programs such as:

  • MBA Mentorship Program Simon Fraser University – Beedie School of Business University Mentorship Program
  • BC & Yukon HR Association Mentorship Program
  • VCC DAY – Wellness/Engagement/Professional Development Day for all levels of employees in Vancouver

Counseling Activities

At Vancouver Community College
As an instructor and lead practicum coordinator, his role includes advising students about life and career direction. Many of these discussions also include students seeking assistance with personal items ranging from all ends of the spectrum.

Hobbies

Joel loves spending time outdoors and will walk around anywhere, rain, snow or shine, whether he is playing tourist in Vancouver or another city! He enjoys hiking and camping as well. One of the things he is most proud of is having visited every single province and all three territories in Canada!

Community Involvement

Joel has served as President on his Condo Strata Council since July 2020, and has been an active member since 2017, . His role includes advising the councils on various subject matters related to the operations and success of the building. He places a primary focuses on People Practices, Privacy and Community Outreach and Involvement.

Personal Growth

Joel’s personal mantra includes continuous improvement for mind, body and soul.

Since moving to Vancouver, he has achieved a Bachelors in Hospitality Management, BHM (2014), received his designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources or CPHR (2015) and obtained his Provincial Instructors Diploma (PIDP) in 2019.

More recently in May 2021, Joel earned a Masters in Science in Psychology of Industrial & Organizational Behaviour with a specialization in Human Resources Management.
