Rev Richard Gauthier BA

Credentials/Education 

The Clergy Support Memorial Church Board was in full agreement in certifying the Rev Richard Gauthier to the Office of Appointed Designated Minister, with his ministry focus on Youth and First Nations Care. As a Métis Elder, counsellor and humanitarian, Rev Gauther provides support to the church and is a valuable contributor to youth and his community. We welcome his expertise and experience to our table.

Ministry 

Current: Rev Richard is active in his community of Kelowna as a worship leader when called upon and in conducting life celebrations of all sorts. He offers counselling upon request as well. He is a Metis elder who often leads prayers and smudging ceremonies.  

2000-2022: Advocate and wellness worker with Indigenous students. This pastoral work included individual and group counselling for students and families, with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practices, and Play Therapy. 

1986-1995: Ordained minister with Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Served a number of churches in Manitoba, providing counselling and support to the congregation and community. This pastoral work included hospital visiting, visiting correctional facilities, and serving as the chaplain for a local Legion. 

Closing points 

Rev Richard is also an accomplished singer-song writer and has been very involved in racquetball, earning recognition as a coach.
